Eating Healthy But Still Overweight

by Lauren Carite
(Pennsylvania)

I'm 16 years old and only 5'3. Sadly I weigh 190lbs. Yet I'm very active. I play softball and I'm always out walking. I don't eat fast food, and I eat really healthy. How come I'm not losing weight? And how could I get skinny?

It matters not only what you eat but how much you eat as well. Is it possible that you're overeating healthy food?

I'd suggest assessing your current diet by keeping a food diary. Write down everything you eat and drink for a week as well as how much, and take a good hard look at it.

There are 3500 calories stored in one pound of body fat. So in order to lose 1 pound of fat per week, you'd need to eat 500 calories less per day than you currently do for an entire week. (500 calories x 7 days = 3500 calories).
