how many calories?

I am a 43yr old male. I am 5'11" I currently weight 314lbs. I have started a weight lifting program and do cardio (biking) 1 hour 7 days per week. I am consuming 1900 calories per day. I try to eat 5 to 6 small meals (healthy) per day.

My goal is to get to 190 lbs. I want to look as good as I possibly can when i hit my goal.

I have been on this program for 40 days and have lost 22 pounds. Do you feel the 1900 calories is too little or about right? I would have to say my metabolism is about average. I work out with weights every other day for apprx. 35 minutes.

My fear is that I will get down to my goal weight but that I will have a flabby body. Can you help?

Thank You

Congrats on taking steps toward losing weight and getting in shape! Continuing your regular exercise routine is the best thing you can do to minimize "flabby skin."

Your rate of weight loss indicates that your calorie level IS a bit low. A healthy rate of weight loss is 1-2 pounds per week. You've been averaging closer to 4 pounds per week.

I'd suggest increasing your caloric intake to ~2500-2600 calories per day and each time you lose an additional 10%, reduce calories by ~ 100.

I'd be happy to set up an phone appointment to further discuss these numbers with you. Just let me know if you'd like to do so!
