What is "eDiets?"
A complete online, fee based weight loss program.
You have a choice of following prescribed menus or enjoying a diet meal delivery program where you get perfectly portioned and calorie controlled meals delivered straight to your door.
If you have no desire to partake in a program where you have to "fess up" on a weekly basis, or if you prefer getting advice and information sitting in your PJ's on your own time vs. "waiting until the next meeting," one of ediets program may be for you.
It bears some similarities to Dietwatch, but has more meal plans to choose from and offers other options like home meal delivery and a selected list of products to purchase.
How does it work?
Simply go to eDiets and complete a short diet profile that involves answering questions such as why you want to lose weight, how long you want to wait to reach your goal weight ("yesterday" isn't an option), activity level, and other lifestyle questions.
(The site WILL tell you if you're aiming for an unhealthy low weight.)
Based on your profile, you'll get back
- An assessment of your current weight status and a recommended daily calorie range.
- Top 3 recommended meal plans.

When I filled out my own profile, I was surprised at the 3 plans that were recommended for me. I didn't necessarily think two of them were the best fit. However, you are free to choose any plan you like and can even combine plans to customize your weight loss diet.
From that point, you'll be asked to subscribe. Your membership includes:

- shopping lists
- online and offline support from a staff of experts including registered dietitians and personal trainers 24/7/365
- live chats with a dietitian

- member support (message boards, dieting buddies)
Prices are competitive and as of April, 2008, are $4.49/wk.
Be sure to read the fine print when you sign up! You're billed one month (a 28 day month, so figure 13 months in a year) at a time, and you have the option to cancel, but if you do so before 3 months, you're charged an "early termination" fee. Weekly Diet Meal Delivery Program is also an option
Have perfectly portioned meals delivered to your door 5 or 7 days/week for less than the cost of dining out!
For a reasonable fee, UPS will drop off chef prepared meals packed in stay fresh coolers at your doorstep every week. For just under $20/day (as of 4/08) you'll get 3 meals and 1 snack/dessert prepared in accordance with your meal plan. Not bad!
And they taste good too...
